I heard you saw a small spider as well.
Indeed. It really wasn't very big, maybe an inch before squished, as they sometime come in this house, but you may not want to mention that.

It's a boa constrictor.
So far this month I've come across 1 dekay's brown snake, 1 live black racer, and 1 squished black racer on the road. sigh.
I do have my first pet widow spider of the year though. she is purty.

My little garter snake was in the pond when I went to feed the fish 2 days ago. Bet he wishes those fish were smaller.

Lighting is a bit dark, but based on the shape of the head I'm leaning towards it being a black racer rather than a black rat snake. Very nice looking.

I found a black snake crawling up the side of brick bldg. trying to get to a Flycatchers nest-musta been 10' off the ground....creative lil sucker!
