Sneezing

My two dogs have started to constantly sneeze, not always a full sneeze. Hish, hish, hish, hish and whahishhhhhhhhhh.
And only when they are on their feet, inside or outside. They are fine while they are laying down. Great appetite, full of energy and solid poop. No nasal discharge or coughing.

We were babysitting two other dogs for friends last week, and I had noticed that they were doing the same thing.
So I googled constant sneezing. Turns out it could be Kennel cough (early signs) or an Upper Respiratory Infection.
Called the vet and they told me to look for certain symptoms, that they have yet to show.

Anybody ever deal with Kennel Cough or URI?

Just sneezing. No coughing and no hacking.
No freshly cut grass. They will sneeze inside and outside, but it only happens when they are on their feet. Laying down they are fine.

Any recent vaccines? Our dog had several severe episodes of "reverse sneezing" for almost a month after receiving the bordatella vaccine. Believe it or not, there are videos on youtube of dogs with kennel cough so you can see and compare. It sounds gross, but it was helpful to know what you should be looking for.

The vet does not do anything for Kennel cough, you have to let it pass.
They may give you a cough suppressant, but that is mainly so Mom & Dad can sleep at night.

I am more concerned now with a URI.
Thanks to Google and the call to the vet I am now aware of the signs to look for.
Thank you for your post.

Don't go to the Breton Vet. I heard they are expensive.

Treatment

The mild form is usually treated with cough suppressants. Antibiotics may be used if there is a secondary bacterial infection. Rest and isolation from other dogs is also important.

The severe form needs to be treated aggressively with a broad spectrum of antibiotics, fluids and other general support treatments. Hospitalization and isolation are necessary until the dog is stable.

And they are just sneezing, no coughing or hacking.
Like I said I will keep an eye out for symptoms of URI.

that is not Kennel Cough dear.... try this
Kennel Cough in Dogs | What is Kennel Cough? | petMD

most of the time your RDVM will not treat is when the KC vac. was just given... this is where they may show MILD symptoms.

if they do get KC from another dog.... it will progress worse than just mild syptoms.
Ok, but my dogs are not showing any signs.
Symptoms

Dry hacking cough is the most common symptom
Cough may sound like honking
Retching
Watery nasal discharge
In mild cases, dogs would likely be active and eating normally
In severe cases, symptoms progress and can include pneumonia, inappetence, fever, lethargy and even death
Unvaccinated puppies and young dogs, or immunocompromised dogs might experience the most severe symptoms of the disease

ok.. thats great...

but ever crossed your mind ... ALLERGIES???? my dogs go thru sneezing fits like that as well.... Im not at all stressed about it. it could be many things making them just sneeze... pollen, dander, dust, room spray... hell we had a dog come in that was sneezing for a week like that.... come to find out it had a blade of grass stuck back in his nose.

just sneezing is not a bad thing... my dog when he is trailing will sneeze to clear his olfactory senses to remove what ever new scent he just smelled
