Snow Peas

Alright, this seems like a dumb question, but I've been trying to find the answer online, and none of the places I've seen give a definitive answer.

Is there any REAL difference between snow peas and regular peas, when they are immature? The peas I have growing in my garden are getting round and fat - but the immature ones look just like snow peas - just like you see in Chinese foods. Online answers really don't say there's a difference.

Anyone?

The pods on regular peas are much tougher and basically inedible. Immature regular peas look almost exactly like snow peas, but you will surely notice the difference in taste. Snow peas never grow full-sized peas in them.
