So.... Cuba

Just sneakin' around....
They were experiencing shortages of fuel, couldn't afford to import any, couldn't afford maintenance on critical items. Food in short supply. And then a major power plant went down, twice, the entire nation of 10 million people, is dark with no estimate for repair. No running water. In Havana, there is no sound of generators.

Start? About 500K have already arrived in the past couple years. I am sure they are being flown about the country as we speak.

Rather have a Cuban than the cretins we are now getting. At least they appreciate what the US has to offer, (not speaking of welfare.) They are a pretty industrious and hardy people, having to make do with what they have, or don't have. Heck, at least we could be getting some outstanding auto mechanics. And who knows? Maybe even get a new Lucille Ball and Ricky show?

To make matters even worse, Hurricane Oscar is now on track to cross the eastern end of Cuba twice.

How are they being vetted? We could end up with another Mayorkas.

Dunno. But at least they aren't being released from overcrowded prisons in turd world countries to come here absent vetting.

Mayorkas' parents were from the privileged monied class, and during the Cuban Revolution used their money and connections to leave when he was 1 year old, they moved to Beverly Hills and he attended Beverly Hill High School. Different times now. The majority of Cubans that do come here now, are the down trodden, hard working, class of good Christian people, who through no fault of their own, suffered at the hands of a totalitarian communist regime. And yet somehow, they still thrived, without the kind of criminal violence that plagues places like Mexico.

It seems Cubans get special immigration handling (Cuban Adjustment Act - 1966). Also I found the linked article and yes I realize this is 9 years old but - https://www.jacksonville.com/story/...mericas-good-will-tune-2-billion/15652738007/ Recommend using the reader view on your browser
The Sun Sentinel analyzed court bookings data and found that Cuba natives, operating primarily in South Florida, are so prolific they account for less than 1 percent of the U.S. population but are responsible for 41 percent of arrests nationwide for health care fraud.
In Miami-Dade County, where 24 percent of the population was born in Cuba, immigrants from the island account for 73 percent of arrests for health care fraud; 72 percent of arrests for cargo theft; 59 percent of arrests for marijuana trafficking; and half the arrests for credit card and insurance fraud.
Do we need millions more?
