So I ordered my Dell a few months ago...

And I've been using it somewhat since then. But, I have not recieved a bill, a phone call and you cannot pay your bill onlline. you can look up your balance, order more stuff, change billing info...but you can't pay online. I ordered it using Dell Approved credit.

So I figured they'd get ahold of me one way or another.

Well, today was the day. I get a phone call on my cell phone from a very frantic Engrish speaking woman DEMANDING that I give her my routing number and account# info over the phone so that they can withdrawal the finance charges immediately. If I didn't do it today, they'd report me to the "corrections agency and ru reeary don rant dat do you missa (last name here)."

After I repeatedly asked her to quit shouting at me, and repeatedly asked her to SLOWLY explain in english who she was, what account whe was talking about and what she wanted with me, I laughed at her demand. I had not heard form Dell till now, and they wait till Saturday afternoon to make this request and want to withdrawal money today. Monday would be too late, and they wouldn't take a credit card. I gave this woman NO information.

So I hung up, called, Dell Financil Services, only to find out that they are closed on the weekend.

I went round and round with their "automated services" only to find out that my first payment is not due until May 1, and the only way to pay is by snail mail check, or by check over the phone.

This is ridiculous. I never thought that I'd be looking forward to a Monday. I'm gonna tear them a new one.

Anybody else have this experience with Dell?

Yea, they suck. Dell financial services that is.

I bought my laptop and they sent it. I got the bill for it and instead of paying 24% interest I just wrote a check for the balance. Well I mailed it about a week before it was due. I figure I am golden. Well about 3 weeks later I get a bill for something like $95. :burning: I call and ask Sanji the customer service rep WTH is the deal. He said well you got a $35 late fee because it was 1 day late arriving, the interest for the month before billing, and the interest for the next month. :burning: I explaine that I sent it in plenty of time, bought a bunch of stuff before, that I should not have been whacked with all that interest. He gave me the New Dheli run around. Well a couple weeks later I was doing my bills and got the Dell bill out. I was about to write the check and I just got steamed. I called DFS back and spoke to Shakira and told her the story, she repeated Sanji's run around and I cut loose, I was transfered to another women who I could not understand at all, then to a guy. I told him the story and he took off the late fee and started to tell me how it was late and I cut him off. I said "How do I know that my payment got there in time and it wasn't tossed on a table and someone set their Tandori Chicken on it and it was in your mail room for a week? He took off the finance charges for the first month and I still had to pay $28. I still had the envelope so I cut up the Dell Card and enclosed it with a note telling them to kiss my Punjab.

PT, I bought 2 Dells so far. Ordered over the internet and paid both by credit card. No problem at all. Delivered on time and got the bill from my credit card company. Paid it off with no interest.

Old Dell finance was great before it got taken over by someone else. Interest rates never broke 14-15% and I even had 1 late payment by a week and they took off the late charge. New finance sucks. Probably citibank type or some such. They wanted me to take 24% interest when I bought my last one... instead I called up USAA and got a 9.25% personal loan with great customer service. :lmao:

Lesson learned. I should have just paid it in full when I ordered it. But, this being my first 'puter purchase ever, and me not being sure about whether or not me and the new 'puter would get along, I figured it would be wise to take advantage of the 3 months same as cash deal being offered by DEll Financial.

When I ordered it, Dell was offering 30% off the top, plus I got my 16% discount on top of that (my company, as do many others, get discounts from Dell). How could I lose, right?

After reading the Dell forums on Dell.com and seeing the responses here, I'm gathering that this is a usual route taken by Dell purchasers who go by way of DEll Financial.

Unbelievable. I'll keep ya'll updated. I'm calling them in the morning.

Thanks for the replies.

I bought HP. Nary a problem!
:twitch: My condolences. I had an HP and it was the devil's spawn. Just wait and see. I have a Dell tower and laptop, and wouldn't trade them for the world.

Like the others, I paid in full when ordering it so I didn't have to deal with the financing aspect. I hope it all works out, PT.

Buy a MAC and live happy

I keep preaching this, but I swear very few listen, go to MAC and your life gets much better, I still cant comprehend why people stick to PCs. I love my MACs, and none of them has ever crashed...ever. Did I mention, I never needed tech support either, I shouldnt, its supposed to work, just like my TV, I dont think I have tech support number for that, but then again, it works. So why do people keep buying a product that consistantly crashes or gets outdated a week after they buy it?

As I say, nary a problem, a year down the road. I love it! (It's a laptop with an AMD processor - beats the pants off the Pentium/Intel equivalents). I chose it for the AMD processor and I'm gratified that I made the right decision.

Update:

Apparently there was some "miscommunication" between Dell online ordering and DFS and the offers that both were trying to sell.

Apparently "90 days, no payments" means something different to DFS. How can something be "payment free" if you are required to make minimum payments????

And as unbelievable as it may sound, I got a Customer Service Rep who spoke English as a first language, and who was apologetic, and waived all late fees and allowed me to make a payment in full from my banks online payment site. Basically a snail mail check, only faster, and I don't have to submit any info to DFS over the phone nor do I have to pay a $10 processing fee.

This still doesn't answer how a multi-million dollar COMPUTER manufacturer who is sistered with MS, can't allow online bill payment, or payment by credit card, but tries to muscle folks into paying over the phone by "check" for a $10 processing fee. Ridiculous. And Never again will I use DFS. Nor can I recommend it to anybody. It's a scam, from top to bottom.

Non-Engish Speaking Tech Reps!!

That's the only thing I don't like about DELL. I only had to call them a couple of times in the 4 years since I bought my DELL. They are all in India. Very hard to understand them. Very frustrating.
