Online shopping, looking for boots for the offspring. Found a nice pair, proceeded to do my homework before placing the order. Description stated, "vegan leather". What happened to "man-made materials" ???? WTH is "vegan leather" ??

Vegan leather is simply another name for faux, artificial, or synthetic leather. In other words not real and probably won't last very long.

Vegan leather sounds better than "man made materials". Plus we all know that man made leather contributes to climate change and vegan is always climate friendly.

But now I'm thinking I need to get some old Chuck Taylors and put them on eBay for $1000/pair and call them "climate change resistant shoes".

real leather is vegan leather... all cows are vegan

I beg to differ. They may eat the same diet, but cows aren't nearly offensive enough to be called vegan.

There are 4 types of vegan leather. Polyurethane/Pleather, PVC, recycled plastic or rubber and Plant based. I have a diaper bag with vegan leather on it and its held together quite nice vs my MC purse which is real leather and the straps cracked in 6 months after i bought it.
