So I'm watching Lone Star Law on Animal Planet

and I'm amazed at how many warnings the Game Wardens give instead of citations.

I contrast that with the Wildlife Conservation Officers here in Maryland where I've seen people cited for not having stamps they didn't need (the most recent was a couple years ago. The kid had paid for his Waterfowl Stamp and it was noted on his hunting license but he hadn't received it yet. He still got a citation for which he went to Court and got it thrown out).

I was almost cited for not having my Over/Under plugged to a three shell limit.

Or the time I had "too many decoys".

Or when the old guy I hunted with caught crap for "having the wrong kind of hunting license" (he was over 65 so he had the $5 Senior License).

Just making an observation.

DNR officers here in Maryland are real big Richards IMO
Pretty much anyone in govt. in Maryland. This state will fine you for picking up an arrowhead or musket ball on your own property.

One of the TX wardens is originally from South Africa. Cracks me up every time when he chews out some good old boy in his boer accent.

I will say that my few experiences with DNR were not bad.

I got a warning on a Thanksgiving morning goose hunt for no plug. Saved me a $250 fine and the guy even allowed me to shove a pen in the tube and keep on hunting. He walked right through our decoys during prime flying time though.

The other time was crabbing. Stopped out boat, asked us about someone else's pots/lines, checked out licenses and gear and left without anything.
