So it did not work out

I applied to adopt a maltipoo puppy from a shelter, got approved and then had to turn down the pup :frown: My two older dogs starting "death fighting" this week so I have to handle their behavior first. I am so sad about the puppy, I feel like my heart is crying. The sweet puppy has already found a home. Cujo and Cujo's sister are going through some serious disipline and hard work. Two adult normal house dogs going to kill each other over a piece of scrambled egg? Crazy

don't feel bad my two hotdogs (mother and daughter) try to kill each other over food.
Isn't it funny how they sometimes don't understand that there's plenty to go around.

What did you expect with a name like Cujo? :lmao: :huggy: Sorry to hear they're fighting. Been there and it sucks.

My 2 wonderful dogs have gone at it a few times  How are you supposed to correct this or punish them for it?

Sometimes you can't. How old are the girls? How often does it happen? My older boy was 2 and it started when the younger reached puppy puberty (about 5-6) months. It started out here and there mostly over food/toys but escalated to anything and everything including my attention setting them off. The pup was the problem and they eventually had to be seperated which didn't matter since my ex and I were splitting anyway. I took big boy, he took that mean arse pup!

The girls are three and just turning two. I was talking to a lady who turns bad dogs into friendly ones and she said to flip the dog over on her belly, hold her mouth closed so she does not bite and tell her NO in a mean voice. Then you stare into the eyes until they sigh and look away. Well I did this with the two year old and it seemed to really work! The two year old is a cocker spaniel who just got upgraded from crate sleeping to bed sleeping. I am thinking that she has a new attitude to go with her bed sleeping. Dogs can be weird. The best is that they will both leave their bowls half empty, but a toddler tossed cheese stick becomes steak. I am not letting them have any scraps until they can behave. I wanted that mop so bad :banghead: I could not let a 3 pound puppy become a chew toy.

Precious is 6 and Roxy (the trouble starter) is 3. They have only got into it a hand full of times. And it's always over food or a toy. But last time they got into it, Roxy latched onto Precious lip (like the poor dog doesn't already have lip and teef issues :lmao:) and she had a nice punture wound

Daily occurance at my house w/ two Jack Russells, one is only 6 mos old the other 2 years. Needless to say, the 6 month old knows not to go near the food bowl while the other is eating. So when she turns to chew her food, he runs in, snatches a few pieces and runs off to eat them.

My oldest jack also thinks she is sooooo smart. She will take dog food and line it along the wall and hide it with anything she can find, a piece of stuffed toy fuzz, a sock, anything! She thinks nobody sees it there. Then after she goes through all that hard work, the little one comes and eats it up! Its pretty funny!

:huggy: That is heartbreaking. I was "rejected" myself a couple of times for adopting a little doggy....all b/c i wasn't married and they thought i would not take care of him (if my boyfriend and i broke up, etc). I GUESS i can kind of understand that. At least they're really looking out for the dogs.
We finally got lucky 2 years ago and were "approved" for adopting the best little baby in the world, buddy! He's a hot dog dog. LOL I had to go above and beyond the application to get him though...i had to show them that we were serious about giving the llittle guy a great home. We woildn't give him up for the world!
