So much for Global Warming

This doesn't have much if anything to do with global warming....

Now if yellowstone goes, I mean, REALLY goes, then we can forget about worrying about global warming. (and about living, mostly...)

This won't mean a thing to the Global Warming fanatics.

You see the Global warming thing is all about making millions selling and trading Carbon credits and turning the US into a third world country.

They arent going to let a little thing like facts cheat them out of the billions they intend to suck out of us.

What facts? That news story is about a volcano under the ocean - it doesn't say anything else. There have always been volcanoes under the ocean. They are simply talking about eruption rate/style. That story didn't talk about global warming! Did you read it? The scientists said "We don't believe the volcanoes had much effect on the overlying ice"

Read it first before you say something false about what it says...

...the real threats to the planet (ie, threats to us), throughout it's history?

It would be nice if instead of further empowering global corporations via the man made global warming farce, the left would concentrate on real problems like how to survive something like Yellowstone blowing; underground.

Just because you say global warming is a farce doesn't make it so. But that isn't the point of this topic anyway, I am simpoly saying this news story had nothing to do with global warming topic. I'll never understand why some people are so close minded they aren't even open to the possibility of global warming. The idea that we are not changing the planet is silly... just look at photos from space, you can easily see things we have done.

but,,, but,,, the melting Ice Caps is a big one for proof of man made global warming.... what now?

I just dont understand how some people can not see that "global warming" could be part of a cycle.

..totally open to global warming. There's history books full of global warming. And cooling. And warming. And things blowing up. And plates shifting. And all sorts of catastrophic events. And a good deal of temperature fluctuation, far, far more dramatic than now.

It never cease to amaze me that people are so closed minded that fossil fuel burning MUST be the source of current fluctuations and that we MUST do something. Now. And we know exactly what the temperature MUST BE.

Because the poor, fragile, helpless earth can't adjust to a little increased CO2. Which, if anything, would increase plant life. Which, if anything, would likely moderate temperatures.

In any event, the global corporations thank you one and all for making sure they can make ever more money and exert ever more control over all of us.

Larry!!! Don't you know that 100 years of data overrides the billions of years the earth has existed. :duh:

Not to mention the data actually indicates the earth is COOLING!!! :faint:

LAWD HELP US NOW!!

GLOBAL COOLING!!!! GLOBAL COOLING!!!!

What do volcanoes have to do with global warming? One is atmospheric and one is subterranean. The two couldn't get further apart and still involve the same planet.

Now granted, if we were talking about surface volcanoes blowing ash into the air, it would affect the atmosphere, but it wouldn't be global warming, just the opposite.

Don't you know? EVERYTHING is caused by global warming!

Here's the complete list so far...

...for one thing, CO2, I think, floats, along with many other gases, so, these poisons would be released into the ocean then into the air. Now, that the oceans are immense 'sinks', along with plant life, that then absorb C02 and many other problematic things from the air, is another matter.

If you would have just said that I would have called you a liar, but damn, you gave a link and I read it on the internet,,,, its true.

What I like about that list is, it links to other news items.

I used to think Bush caused all the world's problems, but I was so wrong...it's global warming.

But I was still right, because Bush caused global warming.

According to NOAA the last few years rank as the warmest in a long, long time. How is that cooling? If you plan to suggest we are in global cooling, whatever the cause, you have to have real evidence.

NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - NOAA: Global Temperature Seventh Warmest for Spring, Eighth Warmest for May
NOAA - National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration - 2007 was Tenth Warmest for U.S., Fifth Warmest Worldwide

and lots more...

Larry, I fully agree the earth does cycles and its gotten warmer and cooler before. I disagree when you claim we doesn't have any effect on those changes. Since we only have one earth here to live on, wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry? Not help make changes that you don't know to where they will lead?

What if, instead of blowing ash into the air, the volcanoes just continuously sent sulfur laden steam into the air, could that do anything over large periods of time?

I don't deny that the climate is getting a bit warmer, would have to be a fool to realize that we don't really have winter around here anymore.
What I do question is the reasons. I think that science (as usual) is making a large mistake by trying to pin the warming on one thing, while overlooking other things.
the large number of forest fires in the last decade might have something to do with it, the cutting down of the rain forests might have a hand in it, the physics of the planets might just be doing something.
don't insult people by trying to make it seem as though their cars are the only issue.

nobody ever believes numbers that they read from other posters so I will just suggest this.
do some research and find out over the last 200 years where the majority of the particulates blamed for causing global warming have come from.
hint, look at the output at just Mt St Helen's alone.

yep, I think its getting warmer, but I dont think that turning off my car is going to drop the temperature any noticeable amount.

Did Bush cause global warming, or did global warming cause Mommas Bush to go bad and produce George with a few defects.
