Solar City, saw this coming

Three houses in my neighborhood have now had leaking roofs due to solar city installed panels.

They can be installed where they wont leak, but when you hire cheap you get cheap.

We talked about this here a while ago. I'd be really surprised if anyone's roof warranty covers it.

Just moved into a newly custom-built home and the last thing I wanted was a bunch of ugly boxes on my roof. With all the insulation and tightness of the home, my light bill is about $80 a month. Less than when I lived in a nearby apartment when my power bull ran around $180 to $220 a month...

I love ours. Haven't had any problems so far. I did do some research on the companies and picked the one with the best reviews . Not Solar city. They save us about $200 a month. More in the summer due to the pool.

I've always wondered what ppl do to have these electric Bill's. My highest one ever was 150 for a very hot August., normal has been right around 100 since I've owned my house. I have electric hot water, which is supposed to be one of the biggest electricity users. I live in a poorly insulated 1970s house.

For us, it was the two very old heat pump systems. The smaller upstairs system was original to the house and dated from the late 80s. The larger downstairs one dated from the late 90s. Since replacing them both over the last two years our bills have dropped considerably. Like more than half. Its a big house, and there is always someone here so we cant take advantage of scheduling temp changes while folks are at work and school.

I have no idea. I have oil heat and no longer have the pool. I don’t have central air either.

Me too. In the heat of the summer, my bill will go up as high as $225 for the A/C. Right now I have an ancient hot water heater, 2 full size fridges, a wine fridge, large upright freezer, small portable freezer, a dehumidifier in the basement and a TV that's on all day. Last month's bill was under $100.

I have a hybrid heat pump/oil system. Going to that cut my oil bill in half and barely raised my electric in the winter. I needed a new AC, the heat pump was only an additional 500 so I said what the hell and went for it.

My mom's house was built I. The late 70s, all brick and is Insulated and sealed up like you wouldn't believe, but it is colder there than here. It was built with some spray foam I sulation that they eventually banned, but it does work great.

WE have 3 freezers, the regular fridge and a beverage fridge...plus a lot of electronics on all the time.
HVAC equipment is original from when the house was built in early 2012. Gas tankless water heater though.
