Soldering help

Would THIS face lie?
Anyone know of any place around St Mary's that does small electronic soldering....I have a CDI box off my sons quad that has a small wire broken in to...There is only about 1/4" of the wire sticking out of the box to grab on to...The other wire is long enough to get stripped and soldered....Too much of a task for me and I don't have the right tools....I would replace it and I probably will have to but the damn thing is $400.00...Any help?

Any hardawre store, get an el cheapo soldering kit and do it yourself. Soldering isn't black magic. Just make sure you use rosin core solder for electronics. Acid core is corrosive. Also pick up a selection of heat shrink tubing and use that to insulate the solder joint afterwards. Everybody should have a soldering iron!

Where are you located? I would have a look at it. One recommendation, though, once you get it reconnected cover it up with a blob of epoxy or something to keep it from flexing and breaking off again closer down.

Thanks to all that replied...There are some catches to all of this...We need it before Sunday....We have a race on Sunday and need this bad....This is a miss we have had for a while and couldn't find it until last night...I have attached some pictures and drew a circle around the wire...It is the black & yellow wire....

When and where?

I have a soldering iron but this is something I want done right...The wire sticking out of the box is very small and only 1/4" long....Not much to grab on to...I'd rather not tackle it....

I am in the Leonardtown/Clements area but I can be anywhere if I can get it fixed...

Any idea on the gauge of the wire?

Not sure what size wire it is but it is about 1/16" OS....Very small..

Or what metal?
I have beer.

Not sure of that either...

I know nothing
I can be any where or drop it anywhere....I just checked with my supplier in Ohio and they won't replace it so if I don't get it fixed by tomorrow, I have to overnight one...

Is that box a sealed unit, or can you get to the wires on the inside?

I wouldnt solder it together, it will just break off again. I would use an "enviromental splice".

That also lets me out because I don't even know what an environmental splice is...:lmao: It really didn't break off. It was rubbed by the shrink wrap and broke in two. The wire didn't come out of the box. It broke off just above the box...
