If I were that guy I would be seeing red flags everywhere. You find a supposed intelligent woman who's willing to marry a foreign soldier she barely knows, as he takes a break from a patrol??? Sounds to me like someone wants to get the hell out of Dodge... er... Iraq and was looking to hook up with a US serviceman to do it. If she makes it to the states I wouldn't expect this match made in heaven to last any longer than the legal requirement for her residency.

Sorry about that chief.
He met her while serving guard duty at the ministry of health. Got married on the patrol. Yeah, she may want a meal ticket, but he'll get his ticket punched too.

I doubt she wants a meal ticket, more like a green card. How's he going to get his ticket punched? He's probably going to get an OTH discharge that will effect him for the rest of his life. Plus he'll always be known as "Oh... that guy!"... the dude who threw away his career by pulling a stupid stunt like that. Oh yeah, plus he's changed his religion to one that's got a big black cloud hanging over it... does this guy know how to win friends and impress people or what. :loser:

The Smart Hooker
Sorry this guy is a freakin moron. I don't really care that he married an Iraqi citizen. Hey if he loves her and she really loves him then I say go for it. HOWEVER, the problem that I have with this guy is that he is bitching and complaining about the Government because they repermanded (sp?) him for falling in love is outlandish. The freakin moron gave time and location of his unit's where abouts. I was in the military at one time, but even I know that you do NOT volunteer information like that even to your spouse. :burning:

Sorry about that chief.
I doubt he will get an OTH discharge, he is guard/reserve he may get UHC (under honorable conditions) which is fine. If he got the big chicken dinner it would affect his VA benefits but that is it. Really the type of discharge you get means diddly.

The difference between this guy and the folks during World War II is that there is a specific course of action that a servicemember has to follow to get married to a foreign national... especially to a FN that's coming out of an active warzone. These guys do not have the rights and freedoms that civilians have when it comes to marriage. Rather than go through the process, these guys went out on a combat patrol single, got married, and came back with wives. Not a smart thing to do and definately not according to the policies.
