A recent speech by Ibrahim stirred a lot of emotion and questionable methods as she calls for Muslims to not assimilate but rather force integration between the two completely different cultures. She claims that assimilation is evil because it supposedly makes the culture of the immigrant disappear and forces others into cultural practices that they are not comfortable with. Her definition of assimilation sounds scary, but only because it is misinformation.

Mahad Abdiaziz Abdirahman, 20, went on a stabbing spree in the Mall of America about a month ago. Islam is the answer as he was unable to cope with infidels freely living and following their own laws as opposed to the teachings of Sharia. Integration would be just accepting this as life, which is not acceptable.​

Assimilating does not mean abandoning one’s culture or traditions. It truly only asks the new immigrants to accept the Constitution as a good and protected idea as much as recognizing the failures of their previous states that made them flee for safety in the first place. This means realizing that Somalia’s civil war, which ripped families and lives apart, was the result of warring factions that are bad for society.

Instead of acting like their home was a paradise and they are putting up with the United States, assimilating just asks for recognition that the United States and her laws are not so bad compared to their failed state.
