She recently became the guardian for a 12-year old (?) when the child's other two guardians passed away. She has no internet service and didn't ever plan on getting internet service. She called both the school and Mokley Street trying to find out what she is supposed to do. She left multiple messages and nobody ever called her back. She was at wits end trying to figure out what to do.

T-Bone and Heather really stepped-up this morning trying to get her the help she needed.

That's because they are tele-vacationing and are only answering email.

The woman just called in to tell T-Bone and Heather that the principle called her yesterday giving her the information she needed. She didn't say what the plan was regarding internet access. She did say that the child technically failed the grade last year, but the school system is pushing him to the next grade anyway. She felt that was just setting up the child for failure.

My aunt Charlotte was a teacher in the Springfield, MA public schools for 38 years, taught 5th and 6th grade English.

In her opinion the 3 worst things to happen to the profession:

1. The Bachelor's level Education degree. She went to college and had a double major in English and Math with a minor in Science. Then she went to university for a Master's in Education.
2. The US Department of Education. She said that her schools got about 5% of their funding from the Feds, and 40% of her paperwork was from them. She's a very firm proponent that primary and secondary education are local and state matters, not federal, EXCEPT civil rights protections.
3. The politicization of the teacher's unions.

agree with your sister on all points.
I knew people who moved here from out of state. Had been teachers, certified. But were told they didn't know the St. Mary's way of the Mary;land way because they didn't go to a state teachers college here.
But those are the schools where the indoctrination starts.
