Someone help poor, old Nanny Pam ...

Nanny Pam

For some time now, I get what I call "screen freeze." The mouse pointer locks up, won't move and anything I've tried, cont/alt/del or Esc .... I can't even get "windows" to come up just using the windows key. Nothing is working except to just turm the computer off, and reboot. Scan disc automatically runs then. What causes this? I can't post in the lunch thread (I've tried 4 times) and I lock up! :tantrum

I have a feeling it has something to do with the smilies  but who knows? If anyone can tell me how to get out of the "freeze" (other than just turning off the computer everytime) please do.
TIA

When was the last time you cleaned out your temporary files (cookies) and offline temp files. If your cache space is set to high( should be at1meg ) your could be using up all your available RAM , which could cause freeze up.

Go to setting
Click on Control Panel
Select Internet Options
Click on setting
Click view files
click edit in upper left corner of tool bar
Highlight select all
when all highlighted in blue click on file in left corner and delete
yes to delete
close and return to main

WTH-this will be try #4 response. I am having trouble posting. can't figure out why. I am such a geek..........

I know you gave me geen NP-Green is always signed. red isn't. Wasn't meaning to imply anything......... just wish I could've helped more... I know what to do but it is so automatic I just do it and not think about it....... hard to put into words.

Every so often my wireless mouse freezes up and no longer navigates the screen, my clue that the batteries need to be changed. It's never happened while on my PC at work since it is not a wireless mouse. Not sure how long you've had your set-up, or if it's wireless, but just a thought.

My work computer has been doing this for weeks. I was able to narrow it down to a problem with the mouse by unplugging and then replugging the mouse cord when it happened and finding that it would work fine for a while. Then when it freezes up again I unplug replug the mouse again.

Yesterday I switched my mouse with a mouse from an empty desk and haven't had the problem since.
