Somthing stinky around Food Lion in Charlotte Hall

"They" are spreading alot of fields in the area with composted chickens. It smells really bad. I have complained to the County Commissioners and the health department and would encourage others to do the same if they smell it. How do you know if that's what it is? Believe me, it smells worse than bologna farts or just about anything else you can think of. :coffee:

I have a buddy that works at the health department (St Marys). I'll clue him in on it.

Its the sewage system that the Food Lion has there, the system is beside the store along Mt Wolfe Rd. side and sometimes it can really stink up the area.

Its certain that co2 gases are being released and thus Food Lion is contributing to Global Warming. :jameo:

You've actually SEEN the chicken parts?

My hubby (whose father is a farmer in St. Marys) said it's chicken poop - not ground up chickens. It's a fertilizer and he doesn't see how ground up chickens would fertilize anything. He said some of the farmers use a combination of human waste and chemicals. The Health Dept. etc. is fully aware of what they spread on the fields. They've been doing it since before you were in diapers. However, he said that sometimes when the smell gets too bad the Health Department will put a stop to it around housing developments, etc. Usually it's hot weather that makes it smell real bad. Since it's gotten cold again, it should calm down. Besides, it's really only like that for maybe a week, around my area anyway.

They put human waste on the fields around us every year. They just did it a few weeks ago. It smells for the first few days, then you don't notice it.

:yeahthat: That's why I don't worry about it. It's not that long.

The Health Dept. just makes them stop around highly populated housing developments if it gets TOO bad. Just to keep the peeps happy! :lmao:

:coffee: It's perfectly legal. Most people spread the manure and the composted dead chickens. It will smell for a day or two, but it will go away eventually. I'd rather have manure spread on a field than chemical fertilizers any day.
