Sony Expanding Legal Threats Over PS3 Hack

Sony is turning up the heat on the hacking community as they seek to eradicate the PS3 jailbreak from the Internet, reports Wired. Sony is now promising to sue anyone that posts or links to the code in question. To those ends, Sony is seeking to force Google to turn over the IP addresses of people that viewed or commented on the YouTube video made by George Hotz (often called Geohot) explaining the hack. :faint: It doesn't even stop there.

In addition to pursuing legal action against Hotz and any incriminated YouTube commenters they can find, Sony is demanding that Twitter divulge the identities of various users known to be associated with Hotz. A US District Court Judge has already affirmed a restraining order against Hotz that forced him to remove the jailbreak code and video from his site. He is also scheduled to turn over all his electronic gear to Sony this week, but lawyers are attempting to prevent that.
