The Southern Maryland Film Festival is happening next weekend, August 23 & 24. This is the fifth year of the festival, presented by the Friends of the Leonardtown Theater.
Friday, August 23 will be a "meet and greet" at the Taphouse 1637 (23418 Three Notch Rd, California), from 6:00-9:00pm. This is a chance to meet with local filmmakers, join a panel discussion, and find out about the jury prize announcements.
Saturday, August 24 is the festival proper, at the R/C Lexington Exchange (44800 Oak Crest Dr, California). There will be one theater reserved for the festival, with blocks at 10:00am (Documentary), 1:00pm (Animation/Comedy), 3:45pm (Drama), 6:15pm (Suspense), and 8:15pm (Jury Selected Films). Tickets are $8 per block. Several of the filmmakers will be on hand to field questions about their works.
