What is this?

Sovereign wealth funds generally use a nation’s reserves and invest the funds to generate returns, which can be used to address deficits, pay down debts or bolster savings. It’s unclear what types of safeguards would be placed around a U.S.-owned investment fund to ensure it has transparent reporting obligations and that the investments aren’t benefiting political allies.

I think I understand, but then I read it again and think I don't.

Well considering the Pres and Elon are both heavily invested in Bitcoin I assume that's one of the first things they are going to buy with it. Wealth fund is a decent idea for countries that have large surplus funds from state owned natural resources that they can invest/diversify, makes no sense for countries with a giant deficit and debt and the only reason to have it is to influence markets.

Not that T-Bone and Heather are a good source of information about stuff like this, but they were saying this SWF was going to be used so the govt could purchase TikTok.

The perfect plan. Buy it with government money, then regardless of any changes made to the platform the left will assume it's controlled by MAGA and will boycott advertisers until the value drops significantly, then they will sell the platform to Musk at a steep discount to the purchase price.

As I understand it, a sovereign wealth fund is how a government actually saves and invests money.
I believe the state of Alaska has such an arrangement so they pay their citizens.

A LOT of countries around the world have them - when I looked up the list, it was like - why the hell don't WE have this?
Not sure how it works or WILL work - we have a national identity built around a government that is owned BY us, and it can't actually "have money" which is why a government tax surplus is kind of a misnomer, because it has to be spent.
