St. Mary’s County Public Schools, in collaboration with the Patuxent Partnership, is pleased to extend the application period for the 2011 Space Camp Program to be held at Great Mills High School.
Camp sessions are designed for students entering grades 2-6. Students in these grades may attend a one-week session of their choice, choosing either July 18-22, 2011 or July 25-29, 2011. Sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. each day.
These sessions are specifically designed for students entering grades 2-6, offering young scientists the opportunity to practice and improve their problem solving and teamwork skills while working on individual and small group challenges.
Camp sessions for older students are available for students entering grades 7-11. Students in these grades may attend both weeks of camp, if desired. The first session will focus on Rocketry and the second week will focus on Robotics. Sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. each day.
Camp sessions provide opportunities for students to participate in hands-on, minds-on activities in the areas of science, mathematics, technology, and engineering. Students will explore these topics through classroom activities and field experiences. Students will work each day to improve their problem solving skills on team challenges, while working toward a culminating activity at the end of each week.
