speaking in third person

Hi, first time posting. Just wondering if anyone has ever had a child or seen a child that speaks ONLY in third person. I am an at home daycare provider in Waldorf and have a new little boy who speaks this way. Otherwise a very bright and sweet kid. Doesn't bother me, sorta used to it now but have never come across this???

He is almost 4. Can talk to you like an adult and loves to talk a lot. Just working with him these past two weeks he has picked up on letters and numbers and really is quick but I don't think he had a lot of help before.

My son is 3 1/2 and can hold his own conversations w/ other adults. He's too funny! But ... we've never used baby talk with him.

I do remember, however, when he was learning to talk he would talk in 3rd person ... but I'm thinking that because we did w/ him. Mommy is going to be right back. Is Jacob hungry? He took his cues from us. But he grew out of it.

Even today he when he means to say "I am" he says "I are" because my questions are always phrased w/ "are you"

Perhaps this is due to issues of how he is talked to in his own enviornment? I'm sure the more practice he has the better he'll get! :yay:

No.
I've met adults who talk like this, and they bug the hell out of me.

Toxick doesn't like them.

His parents must talk to him that way. "Does Timmy want a snack?". Just my guess.

:killingme: This thread reminds me of a Seinfield episode. :lmao:

Schizo does not think it is weird. Schizo believed it is a phase.

A friend said it reminded them of me, probably because its holding some sort of whip or crop or something. :lmao: They sent it to me.
