Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived at the Wiesbaden Army Airfield on Wednesday dressed all in black. She was wearing a black skirt that hit just above the knee, and it was topped with a black coat that fell to mid-calf. The coat, with its seven gold buttons running down the front and its band collar, called to mind a Marine's dress uniform or the "save humanity" ensemble worn by Keanu Reeves in "The Matrix."

The boots had a high, slender heel that is not particularly practical. But it is a popular silhouette because it tends to elongate and flatter the leg. In short, the boots are sexy.

She did not cloak her power in photogenic hues, a feminine brooch and a non-threatening aesthetic. Rice looked as though she was prepared to talk tough, knock heads and do a freeze-frame "Matrix" jump kick if necessary. Who wouldn't give her ensemble a double take -- all the while hoping not to rub her the wrong way?

Rice's coat and boots speak of sex and power -- such a volatile combination, and one that in political circles rarely leads to anything but scandal. When looking at the image of Rice in Wiesbaden, the mind searches for ways to put it all into context. It turns to fiction, to caricature. To shadowy daydreams. Dominatrix!

I thought this whole article was hysterical!!! Can you imagine anyone talking about Madeline Albrieght that way? :lmao:

I would bet my next paycheck that the word "Nazi" was poised on her fingertips as she wrote that! She's so hung up on the black leather and boots portraying power and dominanace, and she wore them in Germany, you know she had to have been thinking that... but just didn't dare write it. :lmao:

I groaned. How very "Washington Post". During the whole Florida fiasco, all they had to say about Katherine Harris - you know, Florida SECRETARY OF STATE - was about her makeup, clothes and hair.

Lesson: If you're a Republican and a woman, expect the "no-fashion" fashion treatment. If you're a Democrat and a woman, expect fawning *praise* over something as trivial as a hairstyle (the Hillary) or making cookies, or in the case or Albright, praise for her non-descript appearance.

I remember the Left having caniptions over some Republicans busting on Hillary for her ever-changing hair styles or her cankles. "How dare you judge a woman by her appearance!!!"

I just thought the level of "reading into" Condi's clothes was hysterical though. She probably picked them out and said "these look nice", and this idiot has her standing in front of the closet with a whip in her hand, trying to figure out how to simultaneously seduce and intimidate the Nazis, er... Germans.

Yet another example of the reasons why I don't read the Post. The only thing I ever enjoyed doing with the Post was rolling it up and using it to light a fire in my fireplace.
