I would recommend learning your rights to having an ABA with your child, whichever county you decide on.

:yeahthat: I taught in a private school for children with autism in CT and was amazed at what ABA did in the three short years I worked there (I really miss that job :frown:)

This weekend in Leonardtown, there will the Disablity Awareness Day. It's a great thing. It has people there that can help you get what you need done for your child. There is also the Special Olympics there, Greenwell Foundation, Walden~Sierra...all sorts of groups that help with education and everything. I plan on going there to check on some thing for my child. :buddies:

Calvert County School system is great for Special Ed. May son (autistic)started out in Calvert Country School in Prince Fred. They would bus him up there. Long ride, but the teachers were great. He went all the way through Calvert School system right through Patuxent High School. :yay: PM if you want more info.

When you get into the school system for Special Ed they have reviews every 6 months or 3 months, can't remember. The County Health Dept and others are involved and they are a big help steering you in the right direction for just about anything. They were a big help in placing my son after High School.

The other place I have called that is alot of help was the southern maryland resource coordinator. 301-475-4389. They made calls for me inquiring about pediatric doctors and I did not expect that. They work with all the agencies for southern maryland. They are very easily to work with.

They work for the Health Dept. The resource coordinators are great. They are the ones that will be at your childs reviews when the school system has them.
