LOW PRESSURE OVER WESTERN PENNSYLVANIA IS EXPECTED TO DROP SOUTHEAST INTO THE WASHINGTON/BALTIMORE REGION THIS AFTERNOON. MEANWHILE THE ATMOSPHERE WILL BECOME VERY UNSTABLE FROM DAYTIME HEATING.
NUMEROUS TO WIDESPREAD SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL DEVELOP DURING THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON AND A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY REACH SEVERE LIMITS... WITH THE MAIN THREATS FROM DAMAGING STRAIGHT LINE WINDS AND POSSIBLY A FEW TORNADOES. THE PRIMARY AREA FOR THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM THREAT IS EAST OF FREDERICK MD TO THE CHESAPEAKE BAY... SOUTH TO POINT LOOKOUT MD...INCLUDING THE BALTIMORE AND WASHINGTON AREAS.
IN ADDITION...HEAVY RAINFALL WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH ANY THUNDERSTORMS... WHICH COULD LEAD TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF FLASH FLOODING.
