Charles Co. Spellers prepare for Charles County Spelling Bee

The 41st annual Charles County Spelling Bee is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 6 at Piccowaxen Middle School in Newburg.

Middle school spelling champions in public and private schools will face off to see who will advance to the Scripps National Spelling Bee set for May 28-30 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center at the National Harbor. Teams from the eight Charles County public middle schools, as well as local private schools, are set to participate.

The county Bee will be streamed live at www.ccboe.com, starting at 6 p.m. Viewers can also catch the Bee on YouTube at . Piccowaxen is located at 12834 Rock Point Road. The snow date for the event is March 21.

The sponsors of the Bee are Charles County Public Schools (CCPS), Educational Systems Federal Credit Union and Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO).
