I could have sworn I had powdered sugar before I put a spice cake in the oven. Well, in a panic, I decided to use Splenda instead. omg, what a mistake. The texture was terrible. I even tried adding cream cheese to it. Even worse!

:barf:

I am sick from just tasting it.

Anybody have a good Splenda frosting recipe? Something about Splenda and shortening just doesn't mix well. I looked on Splenda.com, and theirs suck.

I do not know of any Splenda recipes but I had the same trouble with Splenda. I just cannot get past the taste (and aftertaste) it leaves. I did see something when I did a Google search about making icing with something called Malitol powder. Not sure how it tastes but here is the info I found:
"You can buy Malitol sugar replacer at whole food stores. For this recipe, you will need both Malitol crystals and Malitol powder. The brand I use is Nature Sweet. It measures cup for cup like sugar and is a natural sugar free sweetener made from corn. It contains nothing artificial and is suitable for low carb and diabetic diets. Once you cook with this, you will never want to use any other artificial sweetener again. This has no aftertaste and tastes just like sugar."

Chocolate Buttercream Frosting
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate (Ghiradelli)
1/3 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup maltitol, see above info (must use powdered form)
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
