As I was typing a response in the insurance thread I found myself wanting to just talk to my computer and have it translate that to text. Like my cellphone does.

Why is my cellphone smarter than my computer or my iPad??? I want to talk-to-text everything. First I gave up handwriting in favor of typing; now I want to give up typing in favor of speaking.

...A "did you know?" factoid...

We first heard of this program when they used it for Thing1 back in Florida when he was in school there. It was part of the "assistive technology" they trained him to use because his ability to write was abysmal. It was far easier for him to put thoughts into written words with this program than his fine motor skills would allow. Also, he could not pay attention long enough to remember how to type and think at the same - - or something like that. :jet:

One of his past teachers was involved with developing this in some way, also, but I don't recall the details.

Not sure that would be good.

"So, anyway, what I am thinking is, you know, oh, come on, the thing, oh, what is that word??? Epistemological. Is that it? Yeah, spell check took it, that's it. So, anyway, what I, uhm, mean is that the problems we face are epistemological and that, no you can't have a treat right now. You shush and go lay down like a good boy. You are so cute! Ruff! Ruff! ####. Last cigarette! So, where was I? Epistemologically speaking, our problems in health care are, where's my lighter? I said NO treats you cutey pie! So, anyway..."

Come on Larry, they could get a push to talk headset that would work perfectly with their already built-in selective hearing feature.
