Sprint/Nextel...

...calls me, says "Hey, how's it going?"

I say "Nextel sucks balls. Radio sucks, phone signal sucks. Just sucks."

S/N "Great, great, well, where are you? ...Ok, shows here you got a few bad spots, uh huh..."

LG "No. Sucks EVERYWHERE and everyone I know who has one."

S/N "Right, right, well, that's good because the reason I am calling is because we have a new SUPER phone that works on both the Nextel AND Sprint systems, isn't that great?"

LG "So, Sucks squared?"

S/N "No, no! In fact, we can send you these SUPER phones, normally $250, for a mere $59! Isn't that great!?"

LG "Discounted sucking? Oh yeah. Count me in! Can I get 4?"

S/N "..."

S/N "..."

LG "WELL? I'm busy hear!"

LG "Uh, well, it seems the new Super phone, regularly $250, for you only $59 is...well...not available in your area yet..."

LG "OK. So, how would I tell the difference with what I have now?"

S/N "We'll call you back when it rolls in your area! In the mean time, I am crediting your account $5 for talking with me today!"

LG "Isn't it normally $250???"

:lmao:

What?!
Them hybrid phones are HORRIBLE :boo: I've had nextel for years and have never had any issues with them. But the last 2 months or so, total crap! Here shortly I'm gonna suck it up, pay the early termination fee and go with Verizon :ohwell:

My 17 yr old has had one of those hybrid phones since they first came out....he seems to like it

When my contract was up with Nextel, I switched to Sprint....other than the 2 and a half weeks without my text messaging when I orginially switched it, I'm ok with it....the only place that I really don't have coverage is going up the hill in Clements(right before Hurry Rd)

If you want to get out of a contract with Sprint/Nextel early with no termination fee, just do what I did and call them 2 or 3 times a day and complain about their service. They'll cut you loose with no fee. I have Verizon now and love it.

Jameo,

Fight the termination fee and they will reduce it. It might mean you have to flick your biatch switch on and really complain but a phone service contract should provide a service. Why should I pay for something that provides me no service? or 1/2 ass crappy service. When I was done, I paid $20.00 to cancel my grandmother's phone service.

Larry,

I would have thought you would have better service where you live, guess not. Nextel worked fine in DC and in a good part of Virginia but down here in Southern Maryland, blah.

My Nextel worked good most places I needed it to. For me, it wasn't too bad. I liked the walkie talkie feature.

But when my contract was up, I wanted to get new phones. Everything was $50 and up. They refused to give me a better deal.

So I switched to Verizon. Got two razr phones free, and the plan has more minutes and costs less than Nextel. Two days later, Nextel calls me trying to talk me into staying with them. They say they'll match my Verizon deal. Too bad, too little too late.

...goes in and out. Someone can call you fine and then you get back to them then you can't get them at all for several minutes. HORRIBLE.

Several spots on I70 it goes out. Spots in SoMd. Get near a computer and forget it.

Some buildings fine, others no.

Lotta bars one minute. None the next.

I spend a great deal of time wanting to throw it against a brick wall.

I didn't like the walkie talkie thing....it annoyed me after about 2 times of using it

I called around before I switched to Sprint and no one(not even Nextel) could offer me the deal that I have....they gave me the phone, free nights and weekends that start at 7, free incoming calls, free nextel/sprint to nextel/sprint calls, unlimited text and web and 900 "anytime" minutes for $20 less than I was paying with Nextel :yay:

From what Nextel and Sprint told me they are one....but, they aren't

The way they explained it to me was that Nextel is talking in German and Sprint is talking in Spanish and they haven't got the translator in there yet

They weren't quite sure when they were going to get the two talking in the same language, but, they are working on it

We have placed a hiatus on selling systems to enhance Nextel service.
Nextel has to move to new channels here because they interfere with public safety channels as they are now. I have stopped selling boosters for Nextel locally untill the transition is done.
Nextel uses a system called iDen which needs a special order amplifier, because our normal booster amps will not pass and amplify iDen signals as they do for the normal CDMA and TDMA GSM signals.
The good news is that Nextel plans a new tower in the county that I am not permitted to comment about at this time. I wish them luck with that location - sorry private joke.

Another thing that contributes to SOME dropped calls is these worthless batteries. After 1 year they won't last nearly as long on one charge so the volume drops and sometimes the calls too. Every year they change the battery style so your present one is no longer offered. You'll have to buy a new phone if the battery quits on you because they make the battery more expensive than the entire phone! I would advise anyone to take the smallest contract time available to you. Don't take a 2 or more year contract on your phone. I usually take out the 1 year plan and just keep it. If your phone goes bad just buy another one without renewing and you'll avoid the early termination fee. My friend had Nextel and loved the walkie talkie feature for a while but the service was bad and most calls were long distance from home. He paid the $175 to get out of it! I stick with Verizon. Not perfect, but connected most of the time.

Welcome to the inNetwork. :buddies:

I feel your pain about Nextel. Everytime I'm on an important call, you could count on NEXTEL to drop it.
