Sprint

But wait, there's more...
We got an outrageous phone bill yesterday from Sprint (our local & long distance carrier down here) that was billing us for calls that weren't "local" but weren't "long distance" either. Basically, we only dialed 7 digits, but they totaled up to almost $300. :shocking: It has to do with the local, extended local, and long distance areas. Problem is, the information they gave us on these calling areas wasn't accurate, so we were disputing the charges based on that info.

Long story short, I spent 4 hours on the phone with various sprint reps, one of which blamed the Public Utilities Commission and told me to call them. Well, in flipping through the Sprint Phone book we have, they have a number to call when talking to run of the mill Sprint reps doesn't cut the mustard on customer service and you don't get resolution.

When I called this number, I got this lady who -- when I mentioned that one of the supervisors told me to call the Public Utilities Commission to remedy the problem, she issued an immediate credit for the entire bill and professionally explained that's NOT how business is to be conducted at Sprint and the supervisor would be instructed of such. I wish I'd called this number right off the bat! :duh:

So, if ya'll ever have a legitimate b!tch with Sprint and don't get anywhere with their regular customer service department, call their Consumer Affairs number: 800-877-3345. :yay::yay:

And for clarification sake, that Consumer Affairs number is "Sprint Consumer Affairs" ... not the NC Public Utilities Commission Consumer Affairs.

We've been very happy Sprint customers ever since we started with them in S.C. in the early 1980s. They still handle our long distance stuff. The rates are great - I hardly ever get a bill over $10.

For home use, the only thing better than Close Call America is an MCI 3¢ a minute card if you don't mind dialing a lot of numbers. If the long distance usage is not excessive then the Verizon cell phone is the way to go.
