Does anyone have experience with this neighborhood and/or this elementary school? Wondering what opinions are out there, as this is the neighborhood that we are considering.

Thanks!

considerations...

We lived in the area recently, and used to go for walks in Sheffield. I liked it pretty well, until one day we saw some youths stop a car in the middle of the road, get out, and stare at the pavement where someone had whitewashed over some graffiti (so that it couldn't be read). Made me start to wonder what was going on there.

It's obvious that people take pride in the neighborhood, and we ran into plenty of friendly people. The houses are pretty close, so if you value privacy you may want to consider that. There also is a lot of construction at the Billingsley side of the circle, and traffic on that road is noisy with all the constant dump trucks, etc. With the growth plans for the area and the landfill, I believe that is NEVER going to go away.

We decided not to consider a house in the area because of the crime trends in Waldorf neighborhoods.

If your set on Waldorf Sheffield is better then most. Neal is a brand new school that has a good principal. Wade Elem school is also a good Waldorf school, the best in Charles County according to test scores. Sheffield is an upper middle class neighborhood, but it is in Waldorf. The houses are on top of each other. there is juvenile crime.

i would look further south

More info would be better that Don't!

My Family is having a home built there which should be done in Feb. Yes the area is crowded, but welcome to the DC Metro area.

Not sure about the kids problems, but I was a kid once in an upper middle class neighborhood and yes we caused trouble, No Graffiti but egged houses ring and run etc.

I will tell you more when I get there.

The school is great, probably the best elementary school in the county. The administration and teachers genuinely care about every kid, and they will do everything they can to help them succeed. They also won't tolerate misbehaving.

The newer part of the neighborhood, (the area closer to Neal and Billingsley Rd.), is a lot nicer than the old part. If I was getting a house, I would make sure it's in that area.

I live in this neighborhood. I have lived their for almost two years on the newer side of the community. Its nice and peaceful. I you want to know what calls for service (Police Calls) check here Welcome to Charles County Sheriff's Office . You will find that most of them are alarms call and premise checks. The HOA pays a CCSO Deputy to patrol the area off duty and the neighborhood is filled with Police Officers from various jurisdiction. I belive the Glenn Eagle Development will be senior apartments to go along with the senior single family homes further down St Charles Parkway. For all you peole saying move further South Crime travels. Also based on news reports their seems to be as much if not more crime further south into the county than their is in the northern areas of the county. IF you have more questions shoot my a PM.

According to the website above.....

Bannister and Carrington totalled 701 calls from 11/1/09 to 11/30/09. Yikes those two hoods have gotten bad.

Volumn of calls for service doesnt denote the problem the types of calls for service do. But Is seems like those are the problem areas and not Fairway Village.

It's only a matter of time before those new areas get ####ed up like the rest of St. Charles, and Waldorf for that matter.
