St James Pub

It has been awhile, but tonight BG comes home it's dark and neither feel like cooking OR driving all the way to California to get something to eat.

So she suggests St James, and I'm not going to cook so I agree.. thinking, well, I'm hungry, a cheeseburger would be ok.

They had an extensive specials menu, lots of seafood.. (anyone that has been there knows their regular menu is VERY small)..

But I ordered my standby, a dozen wings, fried oyster off of the specials wall menu, and BG orders an Oyster Stew, and butter and garllic shrimp.

It was all VERY good. Crispy wings, with VERY hot sauce on the side. FRESH great tasting FAT oysters, cripsy, done PERFECTLY.. BG's shrimp came out VERY good (I stole more than two of them) and even the Oyster Stew was VERY good.

The only complaint we could have tonight was there wasn't enough oysters in the stew, but hey, it was 7 PM at a primary lunch joint, I'll give them a pass on that one.

The Corona was exceptionally good.

What was sad, as good as the food was, most of the time we were there we were by ourselves.

People like crap food, I'm tellin' ya. I've eaten at SJP several times and it's always been good. They have a spaghetti special that is obviously homemade by someone who knows how to cook. And the burgers are excellent as well.

That was on their specials wall too.. SOLD OUT!!

And their burgers are VERY good.. I'm just not a big burger fan.

I had a burger at AppleBees YUCCCCH.. May as well have been pressed sawdust between two pieces of bread. Dry as could be.

Are they open? Thought only the bar part was open for now, or do they sell a few things at the bar till they open up the rest again?

It's a bar/ restaurant..

They're not doing anything different than they always done.

We did peek into the store tonight.. It's NICE

They've done some really good work in there.

Yeah, I keep seeing the progress on the deli and hoping that it will open up soon. I'm hoping that they have pizzas that are as good as the ones from the old deli. :yum:

Oh, and :gossip: says that the pub's burgers are the best ones in the county (according to her tastes). They do have good food. :yay:

I can't believe I have lived by there, drove by there multiple times a day, made numerous trips all the way into town for pizza.......when some of the best pizza I have ever had was right there...and then after I finally figure it out, they close down for renovations...ugh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
