I have done foster care for the SMAWL and they are great to work with. They take your current dogs into consideration when selecting a foster dog. They are extremely supportive the first few days of having a foster dog in your home. I have had two foster dogs, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I will be getting another foster dog on Monday when I get home from Boston.

I just signed up to get on with the volunteers at Summerseat Sanctuary.

My kids are dying for a dog.. but I need to put up a fenced in area out back.

What is the average length of stay if I foster a dog?

Can I choose the animal? I wouldn't be comfortable with a big dog. Plus, since I have kids, it would need to be a mild mannered critter.

Barb will get in touch with you, but I have had no problems with any of my fosters. I have had a medium sized dog and then I good-sized dog(husky x). The one I am getting next week is a Shepherd Cross.
