This has to do with burning on DNR property and with in 200ft of DNR property.

If your burning leaves/brush or having a weenie roast it's OK anytime with some guidelines.

Actually, it's not OK. For some reason "fc" seems resistant to reading all of the regulations set by St. Mary's Co. Environmental Health via the Health Dept. Unless the regulations have changed, there are very specific guidelines for burning, especially in St. Mary's Co. development districts and where inhabited dwellings are within certain distances of one another. You might want to call Environ. Health thru the Health Dept. to verify. Confusion about burning continues to persist.

WHO NEEDS A BURNING PERMIT?
Several types of open fires require a permit. Maryland regulations define an “open fire” as a fire where any material is burned in the open or in a receptacle other than a furnace, incinerator, or other equipment connected to a stack or chimney.*
While some open fires like leaf burns and campfires do not require official permits, they may not cause a public nuisance and leaf burns must be located at least 200 feet from the nearest inhabited structure.
To find Maryland state regulations about what kinds of fires require permits, see COMAR Online Search and Information.
