Forget St. Mary's College. Personally, I would rather eat my Chik-Fil-A in the privacy of my water front compound and chase it with a beer - now that's not only good eats but you can't beat the view!

My friend's daughter attended SMC about seven years ago. This lovely young lady was made to feel very uncomfortable because she wouldn't "open up her mind" to trying the lesbian lifestyle. It was mostly by some of the other female students but some of the professors were very pro-gay and would push their agenda in the classroom as well.

If you get the school's newspaper that's in the Enterprise now and then, and read through it, you will begin to see the real picture. Does anyone remember when they had the "Vagina" wars (or some such title) speaker come and talk?

I met a nice couple a few months ago over on the boardwalk at Solomons and we got to talking about the area. They were from up near Baltimore. They told me their daughter had applied to SMC but didn't get accepted. They were bummed for their daughter. I told them a bit about the college as I see it (very liberal, pushing an agenda) and they had no idea! They were glad that she didn't get accepted after we talked. I think most parents have no clue what their kids are gonna learn at some of the "institutions of higher learning." Not all the professors are crazed liberals - I know one or two that are there because they needed a job, but don't agree with the school's "theology" so to speak.

It's a shame. The campus is just beautiful!

Most of what you have written here is pure cr*p! Perhaps the couple's daughter should enroll at Liberty U. in Virginia. They don't push any agendas there, and God knows (that was intended), there aren't any lesbian students within miles :killingme - NOT!

So how many years have you been shadowing this kid? That would be the only way you could know with any certainty that this statement is pure crap (yes, you can say it), otherwise you're talking out your ass again.

You mean, Merlin, that I can actually say that you, as always, are full of cr*p? Having been around a long time, I know a bit about St. Mary's College. So what if a student(s) suggested that a female student allow herself to be open minded about certain contemporary issues. To educate you, Merlin, and you do need educating; being open minded is neither liberal nor conservative. It simply involves listening and hopefully, learning - obviously, alien concepts to you. It does not necessitate the one embrace a particular ideology. BTW, freak, and for any other of you College bashing morons, some of the more popular student campus groups at St. Mary's are the Inter-varsity Christian Fellowship and the Gospel Choir. To be redundant, most of what "Restless" wrote about SMC was pure cr*p. :coffee:

See Citizens v. United, from a career standpoint, it basically guarantees I will always have a job in politics.
Thanks, though if you're under the illusion that only liberals debate like monkeys throwing feces -- take another look around. From terms like "goddamn moslems" to "annoying college kids" to "hairy butch looking chicks," this conservative crowd isn't exactly setting the standard for civility.
Hey, hairy butch looking chicks bother men of all political affiliations. The liberal ones are just scared of them.

I'm assuming this line is where you are admitting that you were indeed full of crap and have no idea what the girl went through. As for the rest of it, it sounds like you are trying to get me to "open my mind" the same as they were and I have to decline your offer.

...I'm not sure if any of you have REALLY visited St. Mary's from the way you're talking about the school. Most everything you've said to describe the students, faculty, staff, and ideals is pretty much the opposite from what it is in reality. That might be townie stereotyped view of the school, but it's definitely not what the school is truly like.

I'm going to join in this smiley idiocy and post one that is a perfect example of most of your all's behavior to this subject --> :cds:

Also, please check your grammar and spelling first before you rip on a bunch 17-21 year old kids that are striving to get a much more higher and rigorous education than the rest of you seem to have had.
Graduated in '94. so watch those assumptions.

Funny that the term 'townie' is still being used. Back in the early 90's it was a bit more relevant to the area than it is now.
I was mostly involved in the Biology and Chemistry Department and really never heard any 'liberal/progressive' talk from that department or its students, hell, I was there when the first Gulf War 'Operation Desert Storm' started and ended. Nearly the whole campus was supportive of that effort.

Now I know at that time there were some liberal proffessors (Glaser), but I never interacted with them so never felt any of their influence.

dchase, I hope you stay with this community forum and use it to help correct any misconception as a line between the school and the community. You would be surprised how many SMCM grads are on here.

While I don't agree with the method used to remove the chicken joints products from campus or the reasoning behind it, the nice thing is that this is still a free nation (for the most part) and people can voice their oppinions, no matter how radically left or right and try to effect change in some small way.
It's up to the corporations, small businesses and managements to make the final decisions on whether to listen to those voices or stick with their business plans.

I think the liberal/progressive/socialist agenda is eroding and destroying the values/morals/foundation of this country and turning it into something that if comes to pass, all of our descendents will be cursing our memories for lackadaisically sitting back and letting those agenda's come to pass and dooming our children to the bleak aftermath (I mean really, sociallism has never worked in the history of this world and only subjects a population to mediocracy and devastating poverty of the masses with rich overlords).

While in college I probably couldn't have been labelled liberal or conservative (although unbeknowest to me I was probably more in the conservative camp due to my enjoyment of firearms) but the real world has shaped me since and that enlightenment has pushed me firmly into the fiscal conservative camp and a libertarian socially. I want the constitution followed in its original intent, along with all its ammendments... period. Trying to breath new meanings into its writings is corrupting our great country.

Sorry for the rambling, too much caffiene this morning. :howdy:

Son, you were taught by "progressive, open minded, inclusive" faculty. I see that you did not allude to the environmentally active faculty who are portrayed by the many uneducated people on the right as hippies, tree huggers, and liberals.

You interacted with progressive, open minded people everyday.

Review American history, America has always been a little on the socialist side.

If we followed the Constitution in its original intent, there would still be slavery and women would have little or no civil rights. Glad that you added amendments which proves that the Constitution is not a stagnant document/philosophy but will always evolve as long as people do, in spite of the many Neanderthals who are dragging this wonderful country down. I expect son, that you know a thing or two about evolution or are you a creationist?

Obama destroyed America
why did you have to take them down? they weren't obscene?

I'm going to cry that I'm offended they are gone....
I didn't take them down. Mrs. Teed cried to admin again and I guess they caved in. So much for Teed's "open" mind.
