The Board of County Commissioners, the Department of Public Safety, and the Metropolitan Commission are closely monitoring the track and impacts of Tropical Storm Ernesto.
St George Island residents are encouraged to be prepared to evacuate due to rising flood waters at the island. If water levels reach an unsafe level at the Metropolitan Commission wastewater pumping station, SMECO may cut off all power to the island due to fire and electrocution hazards. If power is disconnected, residents are asked not to use their plumbing as the sewage grinder pumps serving their houses will not work.
