LEONARDTOWN, MD – October 15, 2019, kicks off National School Lunch Week (NSLW). This special week of celebration is designated to bring positive attention to the school lunch program and the impact it has on our school community. On behalf of St. Mary’s County Public Schools, we wanted to extend an invitation to you to visit our school cafeterias and join students for lunch anytime during this week.

The National School Lunch Program serves 30 million students every day. In St. Mary’s County Public Schools, over 7,000 students participate in our lunch program daily. Studies show that school lunches are healthier than typical packed lunches and that balanced nutrition throughout the day contributes to student success in and out of the classroom. Your visit will help us spread the message during #NSLW19!

On Thursday, October 17, 2019, we will be having a special “Throw Back Thursday” event in our cafeterias. Be sure to stop by and take a photo of you and your lunch. Send your photo to @SMCPS_Food or foodservice@smcps.org. We may feature you on our social media channels!
