Does anybody think that SMCPS will get an early dismissel today. I think they will. Actually i think they should. Because so far they have been already 3 accidents, but they were PD's only not PI's

The snow is falling right now, but it is light, but when it started it was heavy, i could barely see Rt 5. Also the current temperature is 31.5 degrees.

Have you looked at a wether map?? The afternoon map doesn't really show any precip and the little squall is just about over. Do you know the chaos involved in early let out?

First of all, it's organzied choas when they dismiss early.

Secondly, if you look at the weather map, you will see that the frontal system in still over Florida (that's the red line with the little red half circles on it in case you didn't know). At this time, it shows green, because it is below the freezing level. However, it is a coastal system and as it moves north the system will turn over to snow and freezing rain as it passes the freezing level, which is just south of us. Now you see there is a High pressure system sitting of the coast and another in the midwest? Well, this low pressure will squeeze in between these two and will be held along the coast, making it continue to be a coastal system. This will cause the precipitation from the system to be in more icy form as it heads North near to freezing line. Which is where we are. SO, what you get is snow, then icy precipitation, which, in case you didn't know, is MORE dangerous than just snow. I certainly hope if it starts getting icy later, that they let my girls go home, because busses just don't do well on ice. However, I don't believe that part of the system will be here until much later this afternoon.

And just so you know, I was a Meteorlogist for a number of years. So I DO have a clue about this stuff.

They just showed a picture from Channel 9 News. And the pic was from Leonardtown MD, but they did not say what road it was on. That was cool to see.

early out

I can see that you are well informed, but still no need for early let out maybe a delay tomorrow. It will take a while to get here.
