can the county officials say how many yard sales someone is able to have if there is no yard sale laws? please help

I'm sure they have some say over it. Even if there aren't specific laws regarding yard sales, there are laws and requirements regarding commercial enterprises (licensing requirements, zoning restrictions). And, I suspect that some of the rules/laws/precedents/guidelines which dictate what constitutes a commercial enterprise take into account frequency of activity.

Point being, even if there aren't laws which specifically say 'these laws are for yard sales', there are laws that might be applicable.

You want to keep the government out of everything so lets keep them out of yard sales. People have enough to pay for to do things now. Maybe people have to have them in order to pay a bill or put food on the table.. You can tell a real yard sale from an person who is selling things like a business. Those kinds of folks need to have permits but leave the rest of us alone.. I don't have them but, I need too.....

I think she may have been talking about the yard sales you see in the same spot every weekend. Not the 2 you have every year!!

There's one at the end of Mervell Dean and Rte. 235 just about every weekend, but at least every other weekend. Looks like they must buy from estate sales and then have the yard sales.

:yeahthat:
I have a relative who complained about one every weekend where they leave the tables out and the traffic is dangerous.

The county said it is considered a business and issued a cease and desist order. Failure to comply results in a $1,000.00 per day fine every day they're open.

There is a county ordinance limiting how many yard sales per year. I think it is two in St. Mary's. OTHERWISE you have to be licensed. I think a peddler’s license is required. They usually only enforce it when some one complains.

Sorry, but I have not had a yard sale... Yet but, need to. I know who they were talking about and I agree they should have to do something different because it is not a "yard sale" it is a person who should have a business permit.. Those are the kind of folks that are going to ruin it for you and me to have our once a year yard sale, because they are going to cause us to have to have a 25.00 permit (not real price but you know they are going to charge a fee ) and then it will cause a bunch of grief...

I was just commenting to leave regular yard sales and saler's alone and go and see those who are abusing this system... I love yard sales and will continue to go to them..
