Stabil has a shelf life

Who wudda thunk that something that prolongs the shelf life of gas would itself have a shelf life? Had an old can of Stabil in the garage, pulled it out to add to my gas cans before getting them filled. The Stabil had gotten thick, changed color and stunk.

Ran to the store and got a new bottle.

Good to know. My gennie won't start. First time ever. Fires after a shot of quick start so might be the carb.

Pretty safe bet.

If it has a bowl, disconnect the input fuel line, take the bowl off and run some alcohol down the fuel supply line. That will strip out any varnish or crud. Then clean the bowl with alcohol as well. It might save you from having to pull the carb to clean it.

Yep, thing is I always run it dry after use. I'll try that though.
