Star Motorcycles

This is for those riders of STAR motorcycles.

I have found that many owners of these bikes tend to stay away from bike events because their ride is not an HD. I have been in the saddle of both, cut my teeth on a 1943 WLA and the STARS are second to none. If you are interested in sharing your interest in the STAR motorcycle drop me a line.

If you like to ride your welcome to respond as well. I ride almost every day and with anyone who has the heart. For those of you that are fair weather riders that's cool too. There is a group of us that ride through Southern Maryland during the spring, summer and fall on Wednesday nights. Ride a little eat a lot on that night, a bunch of good people with groups from as few as 15 to as many as 75, all ages all bikes.

Thanks for the invite, Hawkeye, but I'll pass. Don't ride in groups anymore, too much silliness and posing for me. But I’m a twelve month a year rider, and I always wave! Seeya the road. :yay:
Keep the shiny side up,

You guys should check out the Southern Cruisers Riding Club.
I'm first officer of the Mattawoman Chapter, we're having a ride planning session/breakfast for the upcoming summer at St. Mary's Landing in Charlotte Hall this Saturday at 0900.

Are you talking about V-Stars?

Thanks for the invite, but I'm not much of a group ride type of guy.

I tend to stay away from large bike events because I don't like drunken idiots

I have a 650 V-Star, but I prefer small groups of, say, 4 or less. :lmao:
Would 4995 be a good price for a 2005 650 V-Star 615 WHOLE miles?

Or 3995 for a 2002 with 10,000 miles

I think I'd spend the extra $1200 and get a brand new one. Of course if it had some extras and was just what I wanted, maybe I'd go for the 2005.

That depends. The 650 was available in 2002 as the Custom and the Classic and in 2005 as the Custom, Classic, Silverado and Midnight, so it depends on the model.

2002 V-Star 650 Custom 2,500 to 3,500 the Classic 2,700 to $3,900

2005 V-Star 650 Custom to the Siverado $3,800 to $5,700

Both bikes and both years are good choices. If you are an owner you know better as to what you have invested and need to get, if you are in the Market it depends on how much you have to spend and what model you are looking for. 10K miles on these bikes is nothing.

If it were my dollars being spent I would look for a 1100 first. Power to weight ratio is about the same, both bike very close in dimensions and you would be more inclined to keep the 650 longer as your skill and need change.

I know a few people who own 650's and they love the bike. Ladies weighing in at under 100lbs and around 5' to men 6' 200lbs, so you can see the bike can be enjoyed by all.

The V-Star line has been around since 1996 and the engine and drive train is bullet proof. There are several things you can do to make these a sweet ride.

If you want some additional information drop me a line or look into the Delphi groups for the V-Star owners Forum.

Last year I found a very nice 650 Classic for my Admin Assistrant's daughter, it would have been a great bike for her and the bike was priced right. She opted to put the money on a cruise instead. (ride the boat once, ride the scoot a lot)

So BS Gal there you go I hope this has helped a bit. To me the core of what is a bike worth really is up to you. If you can get past the hype, look for the bike that stirs your soul and buy it if you can. I spent alomost 2 years doing my homework before buying my Roadie and I will tell you, that all bikes made today are built well, some better than others its just a matter of what you want.

Groups

Thanks to you having replied. And a virtual wave to you.

Yes groups can tend to be kind of crazy. So far the group that gathers on Weds night has not been there yet. We range from accountants to Doctors, Business people to laborers, Cops to who knows who and we are usally home by 10pm.

We usally start by meeting at the Bryantown Store between 6 and 6:30 leaving around 6:30 and take a ride along the back roads to place to eat. After we finish eating people tend to break up into small groups and head home, some may stop off at Apes but must get up early and take the straight way home. We have stopped at several places in the Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's County trying rotate our chow stops each time. We have taken our Wed night run and spent it at MIR seeing how our bikes perform (just us folks) and end the riding season with a BBQ.

So yeah it can be a large group but like I said earlier a good group of people and a way to break up the week.
