(Sykesville, MD) Maryland State Police continue to investigate a home invasion that occurred in Sykesville this morning.
The suspect is described as a white man. Police believe he was wearing dark clothing and operating a dark blue or black pickup truck.
The victim is not being identified at this time. He was uninjured during the incident.
Around 10:30 a.m. this morning, troopers from the Westminster Barrack were dispatched to the 1100 block of Liberty Road, Sykesville, for a reported home invasion. The victim, who had escaped from being restrained by the suspect, was able to get to a phone and call 9-1-1.
Responding troopers made contact with the victim who advised that an unknown white man entered his home, produced a handgun and demanded money. The suspect forcibly restrained the victim within the dining room of his house and began to search the residence for more money.
After the suspect left the home, the victim was able to free himself and call police. Anyone who may have information regarding this incident, is urged to contact the Maryland State Police Westminster Barrack at 410-386-3000. Calls may remain confidential.
Maryland State Police criminal investigators, along with Westminster Barrack troopers and investigators are currently at the home continuing with the investigation. State Police crime scene technicians are processing the scene for evidence. The investigation continues.
