State Police State Police Investigate Pedestrian Fatal In Queen Anne’s County

(Stevensville, MD) – Maryland State Police are investigating a pedestrian fatal in Queen Anne’s County.

The deceased is identified as Sarah Oliver, 82, of Stevensville. Oliver was transported by ambulance to the University of Maryland Shore Emergency Center at Queenstown where she was pronounced deceased.

Shortly before 10:30 a.m. this morning, troopers from the Centreville Barrack responded to northbound Route 8/Romancoke Road at Mallard Drive in Stevensville for the reported incident. Upon their arrival, emergency medical service personnel were providing medical treatment to the victim on the scene.

The preliminary investigation indicates Oliver was struck by a 2007 Hummer traveling northbound on Route 8. Investigators believe Oliver was coming from Mallard Drive and walked in to the middle of the road when the incident occurred. It is unknown at this time where Oliver was going.

The driver and sole occupant of the 2007 Hummer is identified as Eileen Neely, 74, of Stevensville. She was uninjured in the incident and is cooperating with police as the investigation continues.

Emergency medical services personnel from Queen Anne’s County responded to the scene along with Maryland State Police from the Centreville Barrack. The Maryland State Police Crash team is investigating the incident. Callers who may have witnessed the crash are urged to contact police at 410-758-1101.
