(ELKTON, MD)—Maryland State Police investigators arrested two suspects believed to be responsible for two armed robberies in Elkton.
The accused are identified as Violet Jennings, 46, and Darren Yellowdy, 52, of Elkton, Maryland. Both Jennings and Yellowdy are charged with armed robbery, burglary and additional criminal violations. They are currently incarcerated at the Cecil County Detention Center after being held without bond by a Cecil County District Court Commissioner.
Jennings and Yellowdy were taken into police custody by members of the Maryland State Apprehension Team and the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division North.
Jennings was arrested without incident on Sunday, March 17, 2019 shortly before 4:00 p.m. at a motel in Elkton. Yellowdy was arrested on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. at a residence in Elkton. Yellowdy was also wanted on two separate felony warrants issued by the Cecil County Court Commissioner.
The Maryland State Police investigation was initiated on December 26, 2018 after an armed robbery was reported at a convenience store located in the 1500 block of Elkton Road in Elkton. Troopers were advised that the suspects entered the store, displayed a handgun, and fled with currency stolen from the cashier.
Jennings and Yellowdy were identified through the investigation as suspects in the armed robbery, and connected to a prior burglary of the Ebenezer Church located on Woodstock Farm Lane in Chesapeake City, MD. Police believe the Church burglary occurred between December 2, 2018 and December 8, 2018.
