Manchin's media critics predict Build Back Better 'no' vote is threat to the 'future of American democracy'

Some liberal media commentators predicted Sunday that West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin’s vote against President Biden’s Build Back Better plan could very well spell the end of democracy.

Manchin announced on "Fox News Sunday" that he will be a definitive "no" on voting for the BBB plan after lengthy debate.

"I’ve always said this, Bret: if I can’t go home and explain to the people of West Virginia, I can’t vote for it," Manchin told guest host Bret Baier. "And I cannot vote to continue with this piece of legislation. I just can’t. I’ve tried everything humanly possible. I can’t get there."

A Democracy is controlled by a majority of voters. When one vote decides the issue, that is a democracy in action. If they feel that one vote will destroy Democracy they demonstrate their ignorance, because that one vote IS a democracy.

However, if they are really panicked about it they should remember the U.S. is a Constitutional Republic and not Democracy.

So if one Democrat Congressman doesn't not vote with the herd Democracy is threatened.
That is without doubt the most stupid thing I ever heard of.

This bill would have increased the National debt by 3 or 4 Trillion Dollars all by itself, and it was going to cripple our economy and raise our taxes while enriching Democrats who were pushing green crap.
One man in a whole party of creature who cheated to elect a demented old man and an incompetent nasty Negro to the highest office in the land.

The Washington Post is one of the great dangers to America with their lies and fake news and their idiot "journalists."

It wouldnt' matter.

It's engrained in them that "Democracy" is them getting their way.

They have a child-like understanding of... Well, everything.

I was watching a medical show with my wife the other day - a young man who had incredible luck with avoiding death was dying - and a very simple procedure - an outpatient procedure taking minutes - could save his life. He refused. As he deteriorated into worse pain from cascading failures he needed the procedure just to keep him from agony - and he refused.

One young doctor simply couldn't accept respecting the patient's wishes - kept insisting on things like knocking out the patient and doing it while he is out - trying to circumvent the rules to save his life. His mentor and superior kept reminding him he had an obligation to respect what the patient wanted, no matter how easy it was to save his life. When the patient finally succumbed, it seemed as though the young doctor COULD NOT GRASP he had no right to do what he was convinced was the right thing to do for his patient. He was determined to go against the patient's bizarre wishes. He made every argument about how violating his freedom was in his best interest.

I struggled with making a political commentary to my wife, who famously has no interest in such things (and reminds me of such). But we had a perfect representation of the right and left (at least, in most regards). The left has no compunction in forcing people to do what it believes is the right thing to do, and the right believes in allowing them the freedom to do as they want even if it means allowing a little chaos and disorder.

And then, in the Advanced Concepts of Individual Freedom class, we can discuss what a Republic is and why its better for freedom than a democracy.

I try to explain to people often that true democracy means the majority is easily able to violate the rights of the minority.
ALL THE TIME.

A true democracy is a majority rule system. Individual rights and minority rights are never violated because they do not exist.
