Stay Alive

Excellent horror flick! Not quite up there with "The Ring" and "The Grudge", "Dark Water", and other movies in terms of scariness, but definitely a notch or two above most zombie movies and other movies based on or focused on a video game.

Found myself jumping a few times, and overall was pretty spooked by the end of the movie. Left me wondering if I should be playing any more scary video games. :lmao:

The main characters were all late teens/early twenties, so this movie is definitely focused toward that age demographic (the Nintendo generation), but anyone who's mildly interested in computers and games will find this neat. It's similar (but a lot scarier than) Jumanji, Zathura, and other movies where the games come to life.

The only thing I didn't like is that they never really explained how the video game became cursed in the first place, or rather, how a ghost decades or maybe even hundreds of years old could somehow wind up haunting a video game. Very strange. Would like to see a sequel and/or prequel.

:yay: :yay:

I have to disagree. I thought Stay Alive was a terrible horror film. It relied way too heavily on the jump scare (villian pops out all of a sudden set to a sharp musical note) and it had next-to-no atmosphere. I also hated how the screenwriter tended to write himself into a corner plot-wise and then just cheated his way out with cheap contrivances. It's not the worst teen-aimed horror film ever (I still have nightmares from watching a movie called House Of The Dead and it's not because the film frightened me :lmao: ), but it's definitely not worth spending money on in theatres. Hardcore horror fans might want to give it a shot on DVD, though.

I want to see it because I LOVE Sophia Bush! Might I add, to Sleuth, I thought The Grudge sucked so much ass, I couldnt believe it.
