Anyone else seen this film? It was in theatres for a short run in October 2005, but never caught on due to very minimal advertising and a release against many higher-profile thrillers (Doom, The Fog, Saw II), but it's now on DVD and I very much recommend it. It stars Ewan McGregor (Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith), Naomi Watts (King Kong), and Ryan Gosling (The Notebook) and is a psychological thriller which, on the surface, deals with a Manhattan psychiatrist's (McGregor) desperate race to find a disturbed patient (Gosling) who has threatened suicide. But director Marc Forster (Finding Neverland) and screenwriter David Benioff (Troy) deliver such a deep story with elements of the supernatural and the pace is non-stop tension. I can honestly say it pinned me to my seat and had me engaged and on-edge for the whole running time. Quite a thriller genre achievement. It also has very good performances and nice special effects. Plus, the twist ending is quite fascinating and unpredictable and is just as good as the ones in films such as Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, and The Usual Suspects.
Overall, I was impressed and now own the DVD. If you're a fan of plot twist-filled thrillers with a horror bent, I definitely recommend you give Stay a spin on DVD.
