Yes, even though many people live in the Technology Corridor of southern Maryland, they still can't get high speed internet to their home or business. Well, the answer may be here in a few months. Starlink, from SpaceX, has plans to be operational in this area in mid to late 2021. The North Carolina farmer in the video below reports getting 130Mbps down and 30 Mbps Up. The system is supposed to be low latency, but I did not see this addressed in the video.
I checked out the prices and the hardware is $499 +$50 shipping and tax. and the monthly service is $99. Not bad since my cable is $92/mo for 200M down and 17M up. Many people have also told me that they have had to pay the cable company thousands of dollars to install the cable into their home from the street. This makes the $550 hardware cost very cheap.
The antenna is a phased array and is not as susceptible to bad weather like DirecTV. Many people in the comments of this video report having no degradation of performance no matter how bad the weather. Starlink has this to say about weather impact:
It's first come, first serve and you can get on the list for a fully refundable $99 deposit. Just key in your address and they will tell you the expected deployment date.

Your Starlink will detect and melt snow that falls directly on it, however accumulating snow around your Starlink may block the field of view. We recommend installing Starlink in a location that avoids snow build-up and other obstructions from blocking the field of view. Heavy rain or wind can also affect your satellite internet connection, potentially leading to slower speeds or a rare outage.

SpaceX is developing a low latency, broadband internet system to meet the needs of consumers across the globe. Enabled by a constellation of low Earth orbit satellites, Starlink will provide fast, reliable internet to populations with little or no connectivity, including those in rural...
