Stop whining about Trump's golf costs

HuffPost is out with a hyperventilating report that Trump's golf trips have cost taxpayers $102 million. The report says Trump's costs are an egregious affront to taxpayers. But here's the problem: Trump's travel costs are not a function of his profligacy, but rather of his position. The same principle applied to the Obama administration's travels (which liberal media outlets surprisingly had few complaints about).

Although, to be fair to HuffPost, conservatives cannot claim any special respectability on this issue: Too many conservative commentators unjustly attacked Obama's travel costs.

Regardless, as president, Trump must necessarily travel with a large entourage of White House staffers, military support personnel, Secret Service agents and officers, aides, journalists, and vehicles.

This isn't simply so that Trump and his family can be protected from threats. It is so that the president can command the federal government during an unexpected crisis. What if a president was in a vulnerable position and Russia or China decided to launch a nuclear war? Absent the environment of survivable command, Russia might decapitate the U.S. government and avoid a U.S. counterstrike. It might seem peripheral, but the vast envelope of power that travels with a U.S. president is a crucial ingredient in U.S. deterrence. It is also worth noting here that the vice president and speaker of the House (third in the presidential succession order) do not travel with anywhere near the same logistical and command capabilities as the president.

God bless the USA
Apparently Democrats looking for another reason to complain about Trump
If Dems didn’t have this to complain about, they would be complaining about his combover. It is getting really old; like Pelosi.

And, what about the cost(s) of Michelle and the girls (not to mention the MIL) going overseas with Barry on his bowing trips?

So what? They don’t have to go to Trump properties and enrich Trump to the tune of $100 million which is four times the rate of spending Obama did yet you bigots cried about the expense and how dare those uppity negros fly in air force one .

You yourself have complained repeatedly about the cost of the Mueller report which ended up earning $12 million yet you defend this ?

More hypocrisy for you as usual

You would bitch if Trump stayed at a Motel 6 ..... but yeah why should Trump pay to stay somewhere else, when he owns a perfectly good Hotel in Florida

and enrich Trump to the tune of $100 million
Hey Dumb Ass ...... Trump has NOT been paid 100 Million Dollars for RENT At Mara-la-rgo

SS Salaries - Operating Cost for Air Force One - Travel Expenses for SS Agents and All OIher Staff

All ADDS up to 100 Million Dollars

which is four times the rate of spending Obama did yet you bigots cried about the expense and how dare those uppity negros fly in air force one .
Ah here it is ... the claims of bigotry for daring to question expense anything Obama dared do ....

WTF is up with this 'uppity negro crap' no one here questioned Obama's right to take a flight in AF One .... I remember a complaint about the expense of flying to NY and back for a dinner date ... but no one questioned Obama's right as President to us the plane.

just another example of your Fantasy, Supposition, Innuendo and ASSUMPTION

You yourself have complained repeatedly about the cost of the Mueller report which ended up earning $12 million yet you defend this ?
Prove it ... Fantasy, Supposition, Innuendo and ASSUMPTION

To put this in perspective, Trump said:

During his recent press conference in the Rose Garden, this was on display at the podium:

And finally, members of this forum (yourself included) have lambasted the cost of the investigation as a waste of money and time.
It's a shame that $25 MILLION of our money has been wasted on this charade. Think what could have been done with that dough instead.
And then no collusion. Nada. After 400 pages, 22 months and $34 million, Trump, Mueller found, did not collude with the Russians.
Three, the Mueller investigation is over, finished after 22 months, $34 million and a 448-page, two-volume report.
But did we need Robert Mueller’s 18 months and $40 million to uncover and redirect to federal attorneys what was largely self-evident?

Did you honestly mistake this bunch of clowns for having any ideological integrity?

Come on man.
No but there are a number of people that read these forums and should witness the blatant hypocrisy on display here day in and day out.

OMG a line in a Couple of News Stories about THE INVESTIGATION Does NOT a DIRECT STATEMENT Me on the Cost of the investigation

Nice Try ...

So what really explains the furor now directed at Barr?

One, progressives are terrified that a number of Trump's critics -- Brennan, Clapper, Comey, McCabe -- may soon be indicted. They apparently seek to preempt such indictments by attacking Barr, a seemingly no-nonsense prosecutor who will likely follow up on any criminal referrals from any inspector general that reach his desk.

Two, the 2020 progressive agenda -- whether defined as the Green New Deal, a wealth tax, Medicare for All or open borders -- will not compete well with Trump's currently booming economy. Impeaching Trump for collusion and obstruction is seen by progressives as the best (or perhaps only) way to return to power. That effort so far is failing, causing even more hysteria.

Three, the Mueller investigation is over, finished after 22 months, $34 million and a 448-page, two-volume report.

There will be no indictments of Trump for either collusion or the obstruction of justice during the investigation of that non-crime. So now what?

Since late 2015, Trump, as the supposed Russian puppet or the Machiavellian obstructer of justice, was nightly cable-TV news fare. Now, such fantasies are shattered. But progressives are not willing to let the Mueller investigation rest in peace and move on with their lives.

How even to digest such a cornucopia of conspiracy fruit! We saw Mueller’s SWAT teams and perp walks, and worshiped new heroes like Michael Avenatti and Andrew Weissmann who would all frog march Trump out of the White House. Fossils from our Watergate past, like Carl Bernstein and John Dean, creaked back into the limelight to furrow their brows and grimace what Mueller would do to Trump soon in comparison would make Nixon’s scandals look like minor misdemeanors.

And then no collusion. Nada. After 400 pages, 22 months and $34 million, Trump, Mueller found, did not collude with the Russians.

Oh, Mueller in his “Volume II” threw every bit of gossip, hearsay, anti-Trump testimony, and innuendo to sort of, kind of, and maybe suggest that in theory or in the abstract Trump could have been indicted for obstruction (of a non-crime), but then he could have not been as well.

The result? Now the media ambushes Mueller at Easter church services, sticking a mike in his once-consecrated Lincolnesque face as he leaves church. Progressives mutter that he let them down, that he did not let pit bull Andrew Weissmann off his leash, that the dream team was too dreamy—in other words, that Mueller was a Republican after all, a sell-out, a Trump puppet. In other words, in the world of the 13-year-old, the once cool Mueller is now in the out-crowd.

Donald Trump’s former consiglieri Michael Cohen, along with being charged with tax avoidance and improper business deals, allegedly is guilty also of trying to leverage money and attention by exaggerating his influence with candidate and later President Trump.

In other words, Cohen to spec followed the standard creepy daily fare for Washington and New York wannabe fixers. But did we need Robert Mueller’s 18 months and $40 million to uncover and redirect to federal attorneys what was largely self-evident? Could not the U.S. government long ago, without the prompt of a special counsel, have uncovered that Michael Cohen did not fully pay his taxes—in the manner of an Al Sharpton, Timothy Geithner, and Tom Daschle?

The diabolical Cohen also tried to enforce, extend, or create non-disclosure agreements (Swampese for hush money) with two women from Trump’s past. The two reappeared out of nowhere in 2016, apparently to translate their alleged Trump hookups of a few hours in years past to notoriety and additional profit in the new age of “President Trump.”

So, you are directly comparing the cost of an investigation, the answer to which was known before it started, with the normal costs of presidential personal travel?

This is the hill you think is worth fighting for?

Yeah o one is doing that. Plus Trump is lying as usual since the investigation earned $12 million. He is hoping idiots like you see his cheap little billboard and think. "Why are they sending my tax dollars on this?" Well why don't this same idiots think why is he spending $100 million to golf and vacation? We have also shown where none of this is "normal" Not the self enrichment nor the rate at which he golfs and vacations especially considering how much he harped on Obama for golfing and made promises to never vacation.
