I still have flashbacks to the Ice Storm of 94:twitch:

Was that even predicted? I can't remember that far back:lol:
We were in the process of moving into our house. We didn't have heat/water at either house. That was horrible!!!!

Oh my!

I was on my way out to go get formula for my 2 month old and found myself doing donuts trying to get out of the back gate of CRE:lmao: Took me 45 minutes to get home, it usually took me 4.

I remember a storm in 1993 where the phrase the weather men were using was "Biblical Proportions". Went to the grocery store and they were trucking in extra grocery carts. I think we may have gotten about 6 inches from that storm in Waldorf and that was the highest storm totals. You couldn't go into a grocery store without running into at least 10 people you know. The shelves were almost empty, if you wanted bread, you got cinnamon raisin bread and the lines were literally to the back of the store with every lane open. I've never seen anything like it. And the month was MARCH!

I guess you haven't had the pleasure of being in an ice storm?

um...I have...I was here in 1996...I remember...but I just don't understand the frenzy. Maybe its because we always have plenty of toilet paper, and I like water more than milk...and well bread doesn't last all that long.

Were you even down this way back then, kid?
Yes, I lived in CRE:jet:

And it was '94, my daughter was born in December 93 and she was 2 or 3 months old when it happened.

:lmao: If you thought that was 6"..... :roflmao:

The most was like 2". And yes, it was nasty. Looked like a war zone. I think it was February 16, 1994, if I'm not mistaken.

Wifey, girl, and I left here the morning after it ended, heading toward Orlando. We had to wait for VDOT to remove trees from the road before we could make it out to I-95. We'd move about 100yds, park the truck and talk to our fellow travelers for 30 minutes waiting for the crews to open the road for another 100yds. :jameo:

I was at safeway at lunch time today...the parking lot was packed full....and the store was crowded...they had to call for back up on the cash registers...i have never seen anything like it, except in MD...its just water...whether it be frozen or not. We aren't going to die...

I stopped at Giant and BJ's in California on my way home. Other than the jerk who cut me off at Giant to pull into a parking space that I was waiting for, it was pretty normal for a Monday night.

Having lived through the ice storm of '94 and Hurricane Isabel a couple of years back, both times being without power for days, I would say being prepared for the worst case scenario is better than not being prepared at all.

Oh, and I did find King Cakes at Giant for $3.99 each. :faint: I got two. :yay:

Sorry about that but I REALLY needed the Doritos, Chili, Corned Beef and Pumpernickel to see me through the storm.
