Strawberry Shortcake

My offering for FH's family get together last night was to bring strawberry shortcake.

Is there a dessert more delicious on a hot summer day?

Since I had no time to bake anything Mon or Tues night after work, I bought a "Bundt" style vanilla pound cake from Food Lion. I macerated 3 quarts of sliced strawberries. (after slicing them, I put them in a glass bowl & sprinkled about 1/4 cup of sugar on them & stirred a few times, so they made their own syrup.)

Then I took a pint of heavy whipping cream and whipped it (hand mixer)with 2TBSP of sugar and made whipped cream. (make sure you put a metal mixing bowl & the beaters in the freezer to keep them cold. It helps when you're whipping the cream)

OMG! It's a quick & easy but deeeelicious dessert!

I do sort of the same thing, but throw in some blueberries for the red, white and blue theme.

That looks delicious, BayKat!

I should have said I don't make mine like a Trifle in one bowl like that one. I have the cake, strawberries & whipped cream separate - and each person has their own serving made up individually.

(also forgot to get pictures! :tantrum:)

From the way you described it, I thought that's how you did it. Sounds really good.
